How long will Google take to see a newly submitted sitemap?

Good Afternoon everyone, I am Jason Hennessey reporting live from the Everspark Interactive studio here in Atlanta. I can’t thank you guys enough for these great questions that continue to roll in. If you have any question you would like our team of professional SEO experts to tackle, please send us an email at [email protected]

So let’s get started.

Today’s question came from Kelly in Denver, Colorado. Kelly asks “ How long will Google take to see a newly submitted sitemap? Does it happen immediately? I am glad you asked this Kelly, as this is a question that we get asked a lot. Unfortunately there is no solid answer to this question so let me explain.

Google does not have a set time frame for your site to become indexed and there are a few factors that could play into this. Typically the time it takes will vary based upon certain variables with the most important one being the popularity of the site. Google will look to see if there are links within your site as well as links to your site. This is why creating a strong and solid SEO campaign is truly priceless. The more relevant your links are the more popular your site is and therefore the faster your site will become indexed in Google.

Another factor that can play into the time it will take for your site to become indexed is the overall quality of your website. Do your pages interlink? Is your content relevant and original? Are you lacking content or using to many links without relevant content? All of these will play a role in how quickly your site becomes indexed. It is always a good idea to have a strong and strategic SEO plan in place and this will ensure the overall health of your website for years to come.

So Kelly, no this is not an instant process as you can see. Some clients report seeing their site indexed in a few days and other a few weeks. With a little patience and a great SEO plan in your place you should have nothing to worry about. Sorry, that the answer is probably not what you are seeking or provides a definitive answer but I do hope this does shed some light onto the site map and indexing process of Google.

I would love to hear more questions, so keep sending them in. Till then, thanks for watching and have a great day.
