Commonly Asked SEO Questions
As of 2019, research shows 51% of all website traffic comes from Organic Search (Google, Bing, etc) making it the largest channel that drives web traffic. Improved search visibility equals more organic traffic, which equals more leads/sales. While SEO can be a long-term process, it can also be the pinnacle of success for your website when it’s done right. SEO helps search engines figure out what each page is about, and how it may be useful for users. Since organic search is most often the primary source of website traffic, utilizing it as such will increase your online presence.
This is a great question as it’s one of the first questions we would ask as well. As an Atlanta SEO expert, we wrote an article to go more in-depth on this topic and question. You can read the article here: How Long Does It Take for SEO to Work?
SEO stands for search engine optimization, and refers to using organic search engine results to boost the amount of quality traffic to your website. There are three key parts to SEO: quality of traffic, quantity of traffic, and organic results.
- Quality of traffic- It does not matter how many visitors your site is attracting if they are being misled about what your company does. You want to ensure that the traffic your website is getting is made up of users likely to engage with what you have to offer.
- Quantity of traffic- As long as the quality of your traffic is high, you want the most traffic possible coming from search engine results pages.
- Organic results- Organic traffic refers to traffic that naturally finds your site using a search engine, not via paid advertisements.
So how does SEO work? Crawlers from the search engine you are using roam the internet to assemble information regarding the content available. They store this information in an index, and when you enter a search the index uses an algorithm to determine what websites match your query the best.
By knowing what information the crawlers use to store your website in their index, you have the ability to optimize your website to appear in more relevant searches, allowing you to increase the quantity and quality of traffic coming to your site.
Keywords are the words that searchers use to find your website through search engines. They reflect the content and intent of your brand and website. You want your keywords to be relevant to your content and relevant to what people are searching for, so that your website comes up on SERPs (search engine results pages). Because of this, it is important to do keyword research to be aware of the language searchers are using to find websites like yours.
Long-tail keywords are are more specific, and are phrases that are searched to lead to your content. Single keywords are often associated with high search volumes, making it harder for your website to rank. To avoid this competition, long-tail keywords can be useful.
It is important to not simply stuff a page full of keywords in an attempt to rank well on SERPs, as Google will recognize this strategy and penalize your page. Instead, naturally work your keywords into good content and into your URL, H1 tags, meta descriptions, and alt attributes.
Depending how a website is laid out, there can be some major issues holding back the performance of it. The very first website optimization service we recommend is a full technical audit. Within the audit, you should look at the website’s robots.txt file. This can make or break your performance, for example, if one of your most important pages is being disallowed in your robots.txt file then you’re telling search engines to not crawl that page, which will prevent that page from indexing in any search engine results. After the robots.txt is optimized, conducting a technical audit to discover any issues in your code that may prevent your site from performing is vital. After cleaning up the back-end and optimizing for search engines crawlers, analyzing the meta-data (more importantly the title tags) is essential. After these important things are fully optimized, you should then focus on other aspects of SEO such as: Schematic Mark-up and structured data, quality content with the right keywords, backlink profile, dead content, and much more.
Seeing keyword movement and rankings is definitely an aspect of SEO that should be tracked and analyzed to see how users are getting to your site. While discovering what keywords are driving traffic and impressions through search engines, Google Search Console along with other great tools can be helpful. Google Search Console is great for seeing what keywords are causing your site to show on Google, but also it also provides a click through rate and position for individual keywords as well.
While uncovering what keywords are working and not working, you can also discover keywords that you may have not thought of in your initial keyword research. For example: Since Google Search console shows search queries that are driving traffic or impressions, you should always check to see if the content and technical aspects are optimized around those if they are not. You might have a high search volume keyword that is lingering on page 2 without it even on your page content. This gives you a chance to re-optimize content on a monthly basis while discovering new queries that users are searching.

Meta-data is an essential part of a website’s SEO, which appears on search engine results associated with your page. Meta-data includes a title tag, which is an important ranking factor, and a description of the page that appears under the your page’s link. We like to think of the meta-description as your sales pitch to the user who is typing in certain keywords, so optimize your meta-descriptions accordingly. The title tag is what Google will deem a ranking factor so this is very important to optimize each page with the proper keywords in order for your “sales pitch” to even show up.
Our campaign strategies are typically divided into 4 buckets:
Code, Content, Links, and Syndication.
Code refers to how your website is built; how “clean” your code is and how easy it is for Google to view your site. We try to make this as easy as possible for these “spiders” to crawl your site.
The second, and largest, bucket is your content. Not only is this the written content on your site, this is the complete user experience encompassing your customers’ buying journey. We want to make this experience
enjoyable and informative so they are more likely to convert.
The third element is links. This is the fuel for your campaign, it is what makes the whole rocket lift off. None of the previous buckets matter unless you get links to your site. It’s the most effective way to pass the meaningful information on your site around to your potential customers.
The last factor is syndication. Great content alone isn’t enough, an effective campaign has to spend a lot of time getting the content in front of the right people, influencers, industry leaders. To accomplish this we deploy a combination of professional outreach, Social Media and Paid Search techniques and processes that are custom built for our clients campaigns.
The answer to that question is what sets us apart and is different for every campaign we create. The eternal question that we continue to analyze, ponder and work to perfect is, “what do we have to do as a local SEO company, every day to make sure our clients are in a strong position to take advantage of the Search Engines?” The results we get for our clients is because we are the most technically advanced SEO experts that won’t stop until we hit our clients’ goals. We believe that’s why clients hire us as a local SEO company, but you can read what our clients have to say below.
SERP is an acronym for search engine results page. Typically used in conversations regarding search engine optimization, SERP is the webpage displaying results for a specific search entered into a search engine such as Google.
SERPs are important because they display the ranking of your website, or how close to the top of the results page it is. It is proven that the closer to the top of a SERP your site is listed, the more likely a user will click on it and increase web traffic for your business.
Because of the popularity of search engines like Google, some keywords will return a large number of results, increasing the competition for your website to be featured on the first few SERP pages. By using SEO to increase your organic results, paired with PPC to increase paid traffic, you can heighten the potential for your website to be featured on the first few SERPs.
